EFR - Emergency First Response Course (First Aid)
It's a fact: first aid training can save lives, whether at a dive site or in every day life. Being able to perform CPR or chest compressions on an unconscious person until emergency medical services arrives can literally mean the difference between life and death. Ask many of our past EFR students who have had to use their skills after witnessing car accidents, strokes, or people falling unconsious outside of the diving world.
That's we consider the EFR (Emergency First Response) course an essential for all scuba divers and non-divers alike.
In this course you'll learn the basics of primary and secondary care for a wide range of medical emergencies and you'll gain the confidence necessary to take the necessary steps to save someone's life in those critical early moments.
What the course covers:
Primary care:
-
scene assessment
- precautions & protection
- cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), rescue breathing, and airway management
- serious bleeding management
- shock management
- spinal injury management
- automated external defibrillator (AED) training
Secondary care:
- injury assessment
- illness assessment
- bandaging
- splinting for fractures & dislocations
This course can also be combined with the PADI Emergency O2 Provider specialty course to give you a more complete skill set and enable you to administer emergency oxygen.
